How to Improve Your Stamina

Having the ability to run and run and run without getting tired is what every ideal athlete wants. Heck, even the couch potatoes would like that ability, they just dont have the discipline to start and continue training. Well whether youre a couch potato or a seasoned athlete, here is the one thing that is the sure-fire way to help you improve your stamina.

Discipline. Just starting is one thing. But to continue training is in a whole different ballpark. Many people get the desire to improve their stamina, so they start a training regimen. They train for a few days and start to get in better shape. But one day they dont feel like training or dont have the time to train. So they simply dont. They take a day off from training. And pretty soon, that one day off turns into five days off Not long after that, theyre back to where they started. All that hard work they did to improve their stamina for those first few days soon wore off and they returned back to being completely out of shape.

This is how stamina training works. You start off at 100% out of shape. For the first few days you work out, you drop down to about 95% out of shape. Now, as you keep on training, that percentage will decrease until it reaches 0%. Only then will you be completely in shape and have the ability to run miles, jump rope for hours, and have a lot more energy each day. But, if you were to stop training, that 95% you worked down to will go right back up to 100%. Leaving you completely out of shape once again.

You want to improve your stamina for good right? Well then start a training regimen and stick to it. Habits are formed after 21 consistent times. So for the next 21 days you should follow your own training regimen non-stop. And if you dont feel like working out just remember this: The best time to work out is when you dont feel like it.

What that does is get you in the habit of working out no matter what. For example: there were some days when you didnt feel like taking showers, right? But you did it anyway so you wouldnt stink up the place. As a result, it became a habit for all of us (I hope). Well the same applies for stamina training. If you do it no matter how you feel, it will become a habit and youll be getting in better shape with each passing day. Working out will soon become part of your daily schedule and you wont have any resistance to doing it anymore.

So remember: Discipline is the sure-fire way of how to improve your stamina

Oxygen Therapy For Weight Loss?

The chemistry sounds very straightforward. Human body fat is a combination of three elements - hydrogen, carbon and oxygen molecules (plus other substances that are stored within the fat cells).

Add extra oxygen to the body fat, and in theory it should break down into two well known substances:

  1. Hydrogen & oxygen molecules (H2O - water, which enters the blood stream, goes through the kidneys and is then excreted via urination); &
  2. Carbon & oxygen molecules (CO2 - carbon dioxide, which is excreted via respiration).

Oxygen or Ozone Therapies are used by a number of alternative medicine practitioners around the world. It is more popular in Europe than in the USA. Practitioners are also found in Canada and Mexico.

Despite being banned in some countries and certainly debunked by large sections of the "conventional" medical profession, there is plenty of evidence that oxygen therapy produces health benefits for many conditions far cheaper, much faster and without the side effects of patent drugs.

Oxygen therapy is usually administered in one of two ways:

  1. A facial mask attached to an oxygen tank, so that the patient breaths in oxygen for many hours of the day; or
  2. Daily sessions of diluted hydrogen peroxide administered via an intravenous drip.

Given the straightforward chemical composition of body fat discussed above, does Oxygen Therapy actually work for weight loss? I decided to contact a number of practitioners in various parts of the world and ask them if, when treating patients for other ailments using oxygen therapies, weight loss was ever seen as a side-effect of their treatment.

All the doctors who replied responded that no such weight loss factor has ever been observed that they could credit to the oxygen therapy itself, and not the condition they were treating.

It seems that empirical evidence to support the theory that oxygen therapy could reduce body fat into the easily excreted H2O and CO2 is lacking.

Still, not everyone is convinced. The chemistry appears fine on paper, so something is missing in the implementation. Finding that missing factor could be crucial in the battle of the bulge, the quest for weight loss, and conquering obesity.

Books have been written promoting special breathing techniques for weight loss. Although there are sceptics, there are also many people around the world who swear by the success they have achieved in losing weight via these breathing techniques.

The theory behind these breathing techniques is not merely due to the intake of the oxygen, but that the human body's metabolic process expels waste matter, including carbon dioxide, when we breath out. Our air intake is higher in oxygen than what we expire, and we breath out more carbon dioxide than we breath in.

The breathing technique therefore seeks to encourage and maximize the expulsion of carbon dioxide from our bodies - carbon dioxide that is the waste matter created when the oxygen dissolves body fat.

Personally, I must admit to being impressed though not thoroughly convinced. It is quite reasonable to assume that the people who are disciplined enough to follow this breathing technique diligently for several weeks or months are probably motivated enough to also be doing other things (dietary, psychologically, etc.) that will be causing the weight loss.

Still, it fits the basic (unproven) theory that adding oxygen to body fat should result in weight loss. Furthermore, it is harmless, so long as adequate dietary intake of antioxidant vitamins and minerals are being consumed. Whether the actual results are from the technique itself or of a more psychosomatic nature is immaterial if it works, is free and available to all, and has no adverse side effects.

By all means, add these deep breathing exercises to your overall toolbox of synergistic weight loss treatments.

Still, there is one more form of oxygen therapy (not usually recognized as such) that even the sceptics would have trouble disputing.

It is more commonly called exercise. More accurately, aerobic exercise. (Aerobic simply means "air breathing".) It is exercise that makes you huff and puff, deepening your breathing. It is and always has been one of the most fundamental parts of any successful weight loss program.

Effect of Mediterranean Diet on Various Diseases

Mediterranean diets have an effect on various diseases. Their effects are as follows:

Hypertension
A direct relationship between dietary fat intake and hypertension has not been proved but evidence indicates that the balance offered by the Mediterranean diet (low SFAs, high MUFAs, carbohydrate, fiber, vitamin and mineral content) has a favorable effect on blood pressure.

Diabetes
The Mediterranean diet contains a lot of vegetables and cereals, and meets the demands of an adequate diabetic diet. Carbohydrates are usually taken as fiber-rich foods and fats as MUFAs not SFAs; the total fat content being variable depending on individual needs for weight loss.

Obesity
The fiber-rich carbohydrates of the Mediterranean diet help protect against and reduce obesity. The reduction in animal fats also offers the opportunity for achieving a more sensible balance of energy intake.

Thrombosis
A low-fat diet or a vegetable fat diet is preferable to a high SFA diet for protection against thrombosis, therefore the Mediterranean diet is recommended for the prevention of thrombosis.

Lipid levels
There is a direct correlation between plasma cholesterol levels and CHD. Lowering cholesterol levels reduces the risk of heart attacks. A 1 per cent reduction in cholesterol produces a 2-3 per cent reduction in CHD risk.

There are two types of cholesterol - LDL and HDL. High levels of the latter reduce the CHD risk, while high levels of LDL cholesterol increase the risk. High levels of triglyceride fats, especially with high levels of LDL and low levels of HDL also increase the risk of CHD.

Three saturated fatty acids (SFA) - lauric, myristic and palmitic acids - comprise 60-70 per cent of all SFA. Replacing SFA in the diet with monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) or polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) helps to maintain a good energy balance.

The primary dietary PUFA is linoleic acid contained in vegetable oils, such as sunflower oil. This markedly lowers cholesterol when substituted for SFA. Alpha-linoleic acid (in soybean and rapeseed oils), and eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (in oily fish such as herring and mackerel) lower triglyceride levels with little effect on cholesterol levels.

The major dietary MUFA is oleic acid, the predominant fat in olive oil. MUFAs and PUFAs both significantly reduce LDL when substituted for SFA. A high MUFA intake does not significantly alter HDL levels. LDL cholesterol in people on high MUFA diets is more resistant to oxidation, a process which causes free radical production detrimental to cells.

The lemonade diet is also know as the master cleanse. This cleanse was originally created by the Nuturapath Stanley Burrough. Although you can lose tons of weight while doing this. There are so much more health benefits to consider. Here's a few.

1. You lose tons of weight quickly

2. It sets your body to a natural ph level

3. It reduce craving,

4. Remove toxin from out body

5. Clean your body digestive tract, kidney and livers.

When toxins accumulate. A number of things can occur. You might notice that your face is a little more puffy. Or that your digestive system is slowing down. These are the smaller problems. But without proper cleanse. These toxins can harm your organs and cause you your health. Don't wait until that happens.

The lemonade diets is use by many celebrity. In fact Beyonce used it and lost a lot of weight for her role in the movie "Dream girls" . The lemonade diet takes just 10 days. And most people who have done it says that they have a lot more energy. They lost a lot of weight and kept it off because they didn't crave junk food like before. And most see an improvement in their overall health.

Cleansing is so important. Many things we eat today are process and pre packaged. Our body is not made to break down the chemicals that is being put in out food. These toxins and heavy metals are causing obesity and disease. When the body is not working properly. Thats when many things goes wrong.

How To Lose 10 Pounds in 7 Days

In order to lose 10 pounds in 7 days you will have to do 2 main things: Improve on your nutrition and increase the amount of aerobic activity that you perform. It won't be easy but it is very possible if you keep focused and are willing to make the effort. At the end of the week it will be worth it.

Here are some tips on how to lose 10 lbs. in a week:

1. Cut down on your useless calories - sugary drinks, white bread, pastries, fast food, fried food and candies.

2. Instead of eating 3 large meals a day, eat 4-5 small meals. This helps your body to digest the food and turn it into energy instead of into fat. It will also help you feel energized through out the day and will curb your hunger.

3. Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day. I know not the easiest thing to remember so take a large bottle of water to work and make sure you finish it before you leave for home. Often when we feel hungry it's not for lack of food but for lack of liquids. Drinking water will help keep your hunger down. And the best thing is that water is zero calories.

4. In order to lose 10 pounds in 1 week you will have to burn a lot of calories through exercise. There simply isn't enough time to lose that much weight by diet alone. Choose a reliable fitness program that you can use. One such program is home based exercise program called Turbulence Training. The main advantage of this program is that it teaches you how to work out in the comfort of your own home.

Pleas keep in mind that losing 10 pounds in 7 isn't easy to do because it requires a major commitment on your part.

Personally, I don't recommend trying to lose 10 pounds in such a short time. It is much better to give yourself at least 2 weeks to lose 10 pounds. If you have that kind of time, I recommend using the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet. To read a review of this diet, click here: How To Lose 9 Pounds Every 11 Days With Fat Loss 4 Idiots

New Year Resolution - Weight Loss

Losing weight is a goal that will probably be all the more popular as the years go by. As the obesity epidemic grows, people will be all the more intent on making New Year's resolutions that involve some idea of weight loss. But just how should someone lose weight? Can the idea of weight loss be made into a workable New Year's resolution at all?

First of all, the idea of losing weight is very general, and it will be difficult to meet if you have no idea of how you want to lose weight, and how much weight you want to lose. You might also need to have an idea of how fast you want to lose that weight. Remember, weight loss is not as simple an idea as it's often worked out to be. Losing weight involves your entire body participating in the weight loss process: your muscle mass will change, the percent of fat in your body will change, and even your endocrine system, the group of organs in your body that is responsible for producing your hormones, will have to adjust to your new weight, exercise, and eating habits.

When making the resolution, think: how much weight do you want to lose, and how fast do you want to lose it? Do you want to lose weight in your overall body, or are there places in your body that have a lot of flab and are especially prone to weight gain? How much weight do you want to lose in a few months? All these questions need to be answered when you start formulating your fitness goals. These can determine what kind of weight loss regimen you need to follow - and moreover, you will need this information in order to tell your prospective trainer or nutritionist exactly what he or she will need to do in order to help you meet your weight loss goals.

You will need to consider different ways to meet your weight loss goals. There is the all-important exercise. You can choose to make your own regimen or to go to the gym. The advantage of having your own regimen is that you have more control over the intensity of your exercise, and you do not have to spend a lot on a gym membership. One disadvantage is that you may not have the time to carry out the regimen, and sometimes, depending on your fitness needs, it can be expensive if you have to spend on more expensive gym equipment.

The advantage of going to the gym is that you are forced to go because of the often exorbitant gym fees that you will need to pay. Some gyms also offer fitness training, weight training, consultation with a nutritionist, and free use of gym facilities, such as the showers and the sauna. However, you might not feel like going to the gym all the time. This might cause you to spend a lot of money for very little done on your part.

There are also many different exercises you can do, depending on your weight loss needs and your health background. There are the high impact exercises, such as boxing, aerobics, street dancing, and other exercise routines that demand a lot of stretching and twisting from you. This can be dangerous for you if you have bone or muscle problems. There are the low impact exercises, such as yoga or Pilates, which involve very gentle movements that aim to relax you. Such exercise will allow you to have greater control over your breathing, and greater flexibility over certain muscle groups. In particular, Pilates strengthens your body core.

There are also many different fun activities that have been turned into exercises. These include belly dancing, which can be good if you want to lose weight around your abdominal area. You can also do line dancing, jazz, ballet, and other forms of dance in order to strengthen different parts of your body and get yourself into shape.

These are only a few aspects of weight loss that you may need to take into account before you make your weight loss resolution. Remember, weight loss is not a simple idea, and there is no single technique that you can follow. You can use a combination of all these exercises, or even add it to a special diet. In any case, always consult with an expert before you do anything drastic. Your body will love you for it.

Sport-Specific Interval Conditioning

In many sports, a high level of aerobic fitness is necessary for optimal performance because it promotes endurance and assists recovery in "stop-and-go" type sports such as ice hockey. To improve aerobic fitness, coaches have traditionally prescribed long and tedious sessions of continuous sub-maximal exercise for athletes, regardless of their sport-specific metabolic demands.

Most team sports are not characterized by continuous sub-maximal movement speeds BUT/ rather these sports demand periods of high-intensity effort interspersed with maximal bursts of speed and periods of almost complete inactivity. Take soccer for example, a player may move at a moderate speed for minutes while following the play and then will be forced to sprint at their maximal pace for the ball. After that, the player could be faced with a stoppage in play of up to a minute due to various factors.

Considering the endless possibilities, is long-duration, moderate-intensity aerobic training the best method of conditioning these types of athletes? In my opinion it is not. What then are the alternatives? Let us consider "aerobic interval (AI) training" as a more beneficial manner at increasing the aerobic fitness and sport-specific muscular endurance of an athlete in a "stop-and-go" team sport.

Aerobic interval training provides a more sport-specific training intensity, a greater training stimulus that can be applied to the muscles used in the specific activities, and may also be an advanced training method for endurance training athletes looking to overcome a plateau in their aerobic fitness levels.

The intensity level of this training technique is much higher than the intensity level commonly associated with aerobic training. The exercise stimulus may in fact be very damaging to the muscle in its initial attempts and can result in muscle soreness in the days following the training session.

Therefore, prior to beginning a "full-blown" training regimen of AI's, the athlete should develop general muscular strength and endurance and perform a short "lead-in" program of general aerobic exercise (2 weeks; 3 sessions per week; 20 minutes; high-intensity; sport-specific activity).

The initial (first week; 2 sessions) AI training sessions should be conservative in training volume (3-5 intervals) to accustom the muscles and joints to the intensity. As well, a thorough and specific warm-up should be performed as well as pre- and post-exercise flexibility routines.

AI training involves alternating bouts of exercise with recovery periods. A sport-specific mode of exercises is performed for a short duration (2-5 minutes) and followed by an equal length rest interval. High-intensity work is the key factor in this type of training. By incorporating rest intervals, the athlete can work at a much higher (and more sport-specific) power output in comparison to traditional aerobic training.

Determining the intensity of the exercise bout is definitely the trickiest component of the training prescription. The "work" pace should elicit the individual's maximal heart rate by the end of the exercise bout. For example, if a 20-year old athlete (max HR = ~200) ran a 3-minute interval then their 10-second heart rate count should be ~ 33 beats (33 x 6 = 198) at the end of exercise. An example distance for a 3-minute running interval would be ~ 800m. Basically, the athlete wants to pick a training intensity that they believe they could hold constant for up to 10-minutes.

Obviously, picking the intensity can be very subjective unless the facility has "high-tech" training equipment. As the AI intensity should correspond to about 95-100% of the individual's VO2 max, if the athlete has access to high-tech training technology then a more accurate training prescription may be allowed.

Providing an adequate and complete rest interval is paramount! The rest interval must be of an extremely low-intensity so that sufficient recovery will occur and the next work interval can again be performed at a high power output. Do not sacrifice the quality of rest because this will only reduce the benefit of AI training. A reduced recovery will prevent lactate clearance (lactate = muscle fatigue), phosphate energy (CP & ATP) recovery, and improvements in aerobic metabolism. Remember this is not continuous training!

Many athletes that have traditionally trained with only long-slow distance workouts may have difficulty with this concept at the outset of the program, however these athletes will soon become more comfortable in taking a full-length recovery interval.

At ~ 2-minutes of maximal exercise the contribution of the anaerobic & aerobic energy systems are nearly equal and at 5-minutes the contribution is 30% anaerobic & 70% aerobic. Therefore, the high-intensity, short-duration nature of AI allows sport-specific demands to be applied. Training at such a high-intensity recruits the fast-twitch muscle fibers. These fibers are predominantly responsible for anaerobic performance, BUT/ by improving the aerobic system of these fibers, they will be able to recover quicker and be ready to contribute to sprint-performance with less rest time.

The adaptations in the body will be occurring predominantly at the muscle level. The muscle fibers will increase their ability to extract and use oxygen, BUT/ the improvements on oxygen delivery (heart and lung adaptations) may be minimal. The athlete will also improve their ability to tolerate lactate (lactic acid buildup in the muscle and blood) and will be ready to start ANAEROBIC INTERVAL training in the pre-season.

ANAEROBIC intervals match precisely the demands of the sport. For example, a hockey ANAEROBIC interval would be maximal exercise for 30-45 seconds followed by 1-3 minutes of recovery. ANAEROBIC INTERVAL training prescription needs to be addressed in an article of its own, perhaps in the near future...

AEROBIC INTERVAL training prescription

: 2-3 minutes & equal recovery

: progress to 10-12 intervals

: @ 95-100% VO2max; don't go TOO hard! (8-10 min pace)

: ~ maxHR at end of interval

Warmup Work Interval Recovery Interval

Fluids should be available at all times throughout the training session to help combat dehydration. Unfortunately many athletes may not feel comfortable consuming a high-volume of water OR sports drink while undergoing this intensity of training. To compensate, ensure adequate pre-hydration (make it a habit to drink sufficient fluids daily) and excess post-exercise fluid intake. The athlete should use AI to train the body to consume fluids during rest intervals of competition. Remember the importance of being well hydrated (dehydration can cause a reduction in endurance).

WARNING:

Your legs will feel like JELLO upon completion of this workout for the first time! The muscle glycogen (carbohydrate energy) stores will be extremely depleted and muscle fatigue will be high also due to lactate accumulation. Therefore, take caution in the scheduling of the remainder of your training day and the following day because of reduced neuromuscular coordination and fatigue. However, full recovery should occur within 24-48 hours. Make sure to consume a high-carbohydrate snack immediately after exercise and to maintain a diet with sufficient carbohydrate foods and fluids.

Therefore, AI training should occur in a sport-specific manner. The intensity and duration of the intervals should increase in specificity as the pre-season draws closer. Therefore, AI's train the body to perform repeated intervals of high-power outputs with the end result being an increase in sport performance.

How to Get Super Skinny!

Losing weight can be difficult, and when you're talking about those last few pounds to make yourself super skinny, it can be especially hard. The truth is that starving yourself or eating less won't necessarily do the trick. The solutions has to be a combination of balanced, nutritious meals along with exercise at least three times a week. Sticking to a good diet and steady exercise can be hard but it is essential if you want to become super skinny!

Eat more balanced - more often!

The trick to losing that fat is to eat more balanced meals, and eat them more often. and still get daily exercise. You can eat just about anything as long as it's nutritious and in good portion. Smaller meals still satisfy your hunger but keep your metabolism up so that your body can be a fat-burning machine. Eating right and exercising is the key to feeling and looking great.

Don't skip meals - ever!

The most frequent mistake people make when trying to get super skinny is thinking that not eating will solve their problems. If you don't eat you won't have any energy to exercise and this will not lead to weight loss. It's important to get the idea of starving yourself out of your thoughts right away and commit to a healthy means of losing weight.

The body doesn't function without the proper nutrients it gets from your food. With insufficient food, your metabolism slows down drastically to compensate for the lack of food. So, you're actually doing more harm than good when you don't eat. And, any weight you lose will just be water weight.

So, why is it SO hard to get super skinny?

Why does it seem so difficult to get super skinny, but maintaining weight can be so simple for a lot of people? Most of the time, when people exercise they aren't being as efficient as they could be. They stop between exercises, rather than just laying back a little bit, and this will drastically slow down the fat-burning process. That burning sensation is a good thing!

Commit to a lifestyle change!

It's important to make a commitment that this is the day you change. Put down the potato chips and pick up some carrots or celery! Slowly add some healthy changes into your diet and build up your stamina by exercising for at least 20 minutes every day. If you keep up with a plan you'll be guaranteed to see the results!

Wonder why some people can lose weight so easily, yet it's so difficult for you? Want a solution that actually works? If you're looking for a sure fire solution, check out: Lose Weight Really Fast

In fact physical fitness contributes immensely in ensuring a healthy body and a healthy mind as well. Anaerobic exercises are usually practiced by the athletes and sportspersons for aiding them in improving their performances and are effective measures to maintain a healthy body and retain perfect body weight. Anaerobic exercises are high intensity exercises and concentrate on the strengthening of the muscles and muscle tissues and therefore they reduce the accumulation of fats and aid loss of weight. However it is necessary to remember that unlike anaerobic exercises which can be carried on for longer durations of time, anaerobic exercises are of shorter time durations.

The term 'anaerobic' itself refers to the mode of exercising without oxygen i.e. during the time when anaerobic exercising is being practiced, the blood oxygen level remains quite low and the muscles being exercised are in unable to meet the required oxygen levels and take the aid of certain other processes to help in the production of energy. Anaerobic exercises are usually of 2 minutes duration and any form of exercising exceeding this time is considered to be aerobic exercise.

There are basically two different kinds of anaerobic energy systems which help in the performing of anaerobic exercises. These include the lactic acid system and the ATP-PCr system.

Are Your Loved Ones Hindering Your Weight Loss Efforts?

Sometimes our loved ones can hinder our weight loss goals. Often times their intention is not to hinder us.

For example, I love donuts. There was a time in my life when I simply could not say "no" to them. I would wind up binging on them - I could eat 4 to 6 donuts with no problem at all.

I began a weight loss program. I was following my plan to the tee. Then on Saturday morning, my husband brought home some donuts. "Here honey, I thought you'd enjoy these." I devoured every last crumb.

My husbands intention was not to make me go off plan. He wasn't even thinking that I was trying to lose weight. He simply wanted to do something nice for me.

Your loved ones could be hindering you by tempting you with seconds, cooking your favorite foods, or buying your favorite ice cream.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Identify your loved ones behavior that is sabotaging your weight loss efforts.
  2. Identify your loved ones reasons for that behavior.
    • Are they trying to do something nice for you?
    • Do they feel appreciated when you eat their cooking?
    • Are they bringing in the ice cream for themselves, not realizing that is making you lose track of your goals?
  3. Tell your loved one what you need from him/her.

You need to be assertive. Tell them exactly what you need from him/her and why. I told my husband ...

"I really appreciate the fact that you love me so much, that you brought donuts home. However as I can't seem to say "no" to them, I would appreciate it even more if you could restrain from bringing them home. A hug from you lets me know how much you care and appreciate me."

I told him in exactly what I needed and why. I showed him I appreciated his gesture, and gave him an alternative action so that his needs would be met as well.

If you are a little apprehensive about approaching your loved one, ask yourself why. It's probably one of two reasons:

  1. You like having someone to blame for your failures. It's easy to say, "I keep blowing it because my wife is such a good cook and demands I eat seconds." Or "My husband is so nice to me he keeps buying me donuts, if I tell him to stop, he may never buy me anything again." If this is you, you need to decide how important reaching your goal really is. Take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming others.

  2. You don't know how to approach them or you don't want to hurt their feelings. If this is the case then you need to practice ... in front of the mirror, to a friend, or even to the dog. Picture yourself telling your loved one exactly what you need from him/her to help you achieve your goals.

Remember, more than anything else, your loved ones want YOU to be HAPPY and HEALTHY, and will do anything in their power to help you achieve your goals.

How To Lose Weight By Eating The Same Amount Of Food

Just look at these figures! 73% of Americans are overweight. 35% are officially Obese! Wow, if that doesn't make you sit up and listen then nothing will. Truth is, the "fast food" revolution means people eat more unhealthy foods unfortunately, but what most people don't know, is that they can lose weight without reducing the amount of food they eat.

Yes I know, generally people who are overweight eat too much. It is a simple fact of life. Not only that, as people get older, their metabolism slows down, meaning they do not burn as many calories as they once did. Eating habits have also changed. Fast food, TV Dinners, ready made supermarket food etc, are all a part of the problem.

So, how do you lose weight without having to starve yourself or drastically change your eating habits?

Well, it is important to understand that your metabolism is responsible for burning off the calories that you put into your body through eating. Some people have a very active metabolism naturally, while others struggle to keep their weight stable no matter what they do.

Although it is true that eating less will in time help you lose weight, providing you eat less fat and calories of course, but in truth, you can actually lose weight when you eat the same amount of food each day.

The trick is not really how much you eat, but what you actually eat. For instance, if you eat huge steaks each day, with a large portion of fries, all you need to do is eat a smaller steak, not so many fries and add more vegetables to your plate. It can end up the same amount of food, but because you are eating less fat, and reducing the calorie intake, providing you stimulate your metabolism a little more you will lose weight.

Understanding calories and how many you should eat each day will of course help when deciding on what to eat. Also, taking a natural supplement after eating can help to stimulate your metabolism and burn some extra calories without much effort on your part. A touch more exercise will help you lose weight faster, but for many that is not possible depending on how much time they have each day.

If you lose weight too fast, it has some terrible side effects, like lose skin, and that can lead to having to have an operation to remove it. Losing weight slowly and naturally is best so patience is needed.

By exercising more you can speed up the rate at which you burn calories, and it will help to build up your muscles and tighten your skin. Bare that in mind if you are serious about losing weight.

Eat more foods like rice, potatoes, cereals, chicken, fish. Try going a week without red meat but if you do eat red meat, reduce the size and add more vegetables to make up for it and do a bit more exercise too!

Try eating five smaller meals each day instead of one huge one. Tests have proven that eating smaller meals more often will stop you feeling hungry and help your metabolism to function better.

It may be advisable to speak with your Doctor first, or consult a nutritionist or expert in the weight loss industry.

Just remember that losing weight doesn't mean you have to go without food and feel hungry all the time. Simple, small changes to what you eat will do the trick just fine.

1 Cardio Trick To Lose Belly Fat - Maximize Your Belly Fat Burn Rate

One of the best ways to lose belly fat is through cardio workouts. Cardio can burn a lot of fat in a relatively short period of time, as long as it's done in the right way to maximize your fat burn rate. The sad thing is, that most people do cardio in a way which doesn't help them to burn the maximum amount of fat and also consumes way too much of their time.

So what is the wrong way to do cardio? Or better yet, what is the 1 cardio trick to lose belly fat fast?

The wrong way to do cardio, which is the more common form you see in gyms, is the long duration, low-medium intensity cardio workouts. You probably know what I mean: people who get up on the treadmill and simply use to it to stroll for an hour, barely picking up their feet. Others may run at a slow pace which may be great for a warm up, but it's not the best way to lose belly fat, not by a long shot.

Not that I blame those people, they've simply been filled with misinformation. They've been led to believe that they need to do long workouts in order to burn any fat at all. Of course you need to do things for a long time if you're doing it at a slow pace like a turtle. Your body barely feels any exertion.

The 1 trick to lose belly fat with cardio involves doing short duration, high intensity, interval cardio workouts. By doing such workouts you get the body to really feel the burden, work your heart through a whole range of beat rates, burn a ton of fat, and do it in less time. The downside is that you need to work hard. If you don't push yourself, you will not be able to burn enough belly fat to make it worthwhile, but if you are prepared to make the effort, you can have a massive cardio workout in 20--25 minutes flat.

So the trick to doing cardio to lose belly fat is to do it a high intensity level which means that you will only be able to keep it up for a short while, and then to lower your intensity level for a while to catch your breath, and push yourself into higher intensity again. If you do this cycle for the entire 20 minutes of workout, believe me, you'll be huffing and puffing, and sweating profusely. What's even better, is that your body will be burning calories a higher rate for a long time afterwards because you've really pushed it to the wall.

Try doing this kind of cardio. If you do just this 1 trick to lose belly fat, you will see and feel the results.

Lose Weight Fast - Six Sensible Tips for Long Term Weight Loss

In this article we are going to show you some sensible PROVEN Ways to lose weight fast.

The good news about the diet tips enclosed are they do not involve starving yourself, or using fad diets that can actually be bad for your long term health.

    1. Drink water

Water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off longer term.

Water acts as an appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration which can lead to false cravings/hunger.

Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. When you dont drink enough water the liver which works to provide stored fat for energy helps the kidneys eliminate waste and becomes less effective at metabolizing fat.

Drinking water ice cold burns about 62 calories a day. Your body has to work to raise that waters temperature to your bodys temperature. This equals around 430 calories per week.

    2. Eat regularly

This means eating 5 times a day and the most important meal is breakfast.

Make sure you fuel your body first thing in the morning to avoid hunger pangs later in the day.

When you eat 5 times a day you will never feel hungry, make sure the total calories consumed are sensible and dont over eat in any of the meals learn portion size control!

    3. Eat lots of fibre

Eating adequate fiber foods to help keep things moving through your bowel. And like water, fiber rich foods bulk you up and make you feel fuller for longer.

Fibre is found only in plant foods our bodies cant digest it to so it simply goes through the body. During the elimination process it cuts calories consumed by attaching to protein and fat that you eat along with it removes that as well

In addition, high fiber foods are typically low in calories and filling, so you are reducing your calorie intake overall.

Good fibre foods include: strawberries, apples, figs, chickpeas, potatoes, (with skins) broccoli, brown rice, beans, bran and nuts.

    4. Consume more good fats

There are good fats and bad fats

Good fats provide you with essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) needed for normal reproduction and growth, as well as for production of prostoglandin, a hormone like compound that regulates blood pressure, prevents blood clotting and lowers the risk of heart disease.

For example, the reason oily fish is a great food stems from the fact that the essential fatty acids which it contains can actually help your body burn fat more efficiently and protect against disease. Get at least three portions of oily fish a week with Salmon, mackerel, herrings and sardines being good choices. 5. Get plenty of quality protein

Quality protein is an effective weight control tool because of the satiety factor and its ability to keep you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbohydrates by preventing insulin spikes that cause energy loss and sugar cravings

Protein helps to maintain muscle mass which is important in the fat burning process.

    Good choices include:

Fish, shrimps, Low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt, skimmed milk, egg whites, s Weight gain is caused by consuming too many calories, whether they are from carbohydrate, protein or fat.

    6. Carbohydrates can help you lose weight

Checklist For Buying A Genuine Hoodia Weight Loss Product

Since the recent media hype about Hoodia products and their ability to help weight loss by suppressing the appetite, many companies have jumped on the bandwagon selling their own version of 'Hoodia'. Unscrupulous marketers are making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from the unsuspecting public. The reality is that the manufacturers claims about their products are overstated. Often the amount of actual Hoodia Gordonii in the supplement is very little and sometimes the product contains none at all.

There are many different species of the Hoodia plant, but the only plant with the active ingredient to suppress hunger is the Hoodia Gordonii, which is grown in the South African Kalahari Desert. When buying a Hoodia product it is important to verify that it has come from this region and manufacturers should provide CITES certificates to prove the Hoodia's authenticity.

Only one particular part of the plant is effective in controlling the appetite. The San Bushmen never ate the spines and skin of the plant but only the meaty center. Companies often grind the entire plant and claim that their product is 100% pure, which although may be the truth, it may not be a quality product. Also it is important to ensure the Hoodia you buy has been made in an FDA approved lab and meets their guidelines.

Another way to recognize the genuine product is by the price. Real Hoodia is expensive, and rare as it is hard to cultivate. It is easy to be tempted by cheaper products in a bid to save some dollars, but the reality is that these products probably contain very little, if any Hoodia. There are a huge amount of weight loss products available both online and in health stores but it is important to do your research before purchasing from an unknown company. Genuine Hoodia is harvested in government farms in the Kalahari Desert and the San Bushmen are paid a royalty. This makes the real thing hard to obtain and not every company has a license to do so.

Never buy a product that does not come with a 100% money back guarantee. Legitimate manufacturers will be confident enough in their product to offer this guarantee, and this provides you with the security that your money will not be wasted if it does not live up to your expectations.

With obesity becoming such a huge problem worldwide many people are turning to weight loss supplements and products to help control their weight. Hoodia could be one of the healthier and more effective ways to lose weight as it gets to the root of the problem by suppressing the appetite and helping people to eat less and by reducing cravings.

Ladies, Discover How Strength Training Can Help You Burn Belly Fat

Ladies, weight lifting isn't a macho guy thing.

Weight training has a powerful affect for women to burn more fat,

    especially stubborn female belly fat..

Too many people, especially females, waste to much time on a treadmill, riding a stationary bike, or coasting on an elliptical machine, whilst watching the TV screen at their state of the art gym

thinking it is a great way to lose belly fat quick.

And you have probably seen women at the gym that spend all the time on those cardio machines still looking the same too.

But research into the study of obesity has shown that for the amount of hours you put into a standard cardio exercise is not that effective for fat burning. In other words, this indicates that steady pace endurance cardio work may not be all it's cracked up to be.

This is the main reason majority of people get bored and lose motivation with their workouts, and quit after a couple months without seeing results.

Cardio is only ONE piece of the Fat Loss puzzle. To burn female belly fat, resistance training is the key. Strength Training elevates our metabolism for up to 48 hours after a workout.

It definitely pays fat loss dividends after your workout ends!

Cardiovascular workouts are effective - but after an hour of running, your metabolism is only elevated for less than an hour before going back to normal. However, strength training will increase your metabolism permanently.

This happens because weight lifting can actually break down the muscle tissue and create more fast twitch muscle fibers which burn more fat especially the stubborn female belly fat.

Simply, you can train your body into a fat burning machine. So how can women work on this efficiently? Look at combining interval training and resistance training at high intensity, as it is a great metabolic workout to lose tummy fat.

Forget the tiny weights and high reps - it will not work.

The aim here is to get your legs burning, heart racing, and chest heaving for breaths. It is a great way to strengthen and conditional most every muscle in your entire body, and full filling your cardio

needs as well...something that a boring stationary bike ride or treadmill cannot offer.

So ladies, forget the ways of the long, boring cardio training. And don't worry about 'bulking up'.

Women simply do not have the ability to bulk up. Men, however, are able to add lots of muscle

For maximum female belly fat loss - start eating right to feed the muscle, and use a workout like Turbulence Training Routine that will burn body fat fast.

Medifast Weight Loss System - A Quick Overview

I've lost nearly 65 pounds on medifast and am still going strong. From the questions that I am often asked, I find that there are a lot of misconceptions about this diet plan. Here is a quick overview which will hopefully give you an accurate idea of what this system is all about:

Medifast is a meal replacement diet which means that you replace some of your daily meals with prepackaged options provided by the company. There are over 70 different meals from which to choose. There are some liquid choices, but the plan is definitely not a liquid only diet. Typical meals include shakes, bars, puddings, teas, lattes, cappuccinos, chilis, stews, crackers, eggs, and oatmeals etc.

In addition to eating five of these meals per day, you will provide your own "lean and green meal." This is usually your largest meal of the day and although you can have it at any time, most people prefer to eat this main meal at dinner time. The lean and green consists of lean protein and veggies or salads. It may sound difficult to eat six times per day, but it really isn't because the foods are pretty much grab and go and very convenient.

I find the taste of the foods to be pretty decent, but you can make them taste even better by adding sugar free syrups. You can add these to the shakes, puddings, lattes and oatmeals. I like adding either caramel or cherry flavored syrup but there are countless choices. You can also make muffins and cookies from the pudding and shake ingredients. I also take the liberty of adding fat free cheese and sour cream to the soups and stews.

The company states that the typical weight loss is 2-3 pounds per week. I have found that if I add a bit of exercise (power walking, roller blading, or gardening with a weight vest) I can get this even higher, usually as much as five pounds per week. This program works by putting your body in ketosis and tricking it into burning its own fat. Since exercise also burns fat, moving your body means doubling your efforts.

The cost is about $8 per day, but there are usually coupons available. For me personally, this has been the only plan that has been both effective and easy for me stick with. Eating the company's foods does take some getting used to initially, but adding the syrups and being motivated by the changes in your body can really help.

Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diets - Lose 9 Pounds Every 11 Days

Fat loss 4 idiots diets work wonderful but you should be very careful. If you don't pay close attention you will suffer great risk of actually losing the fat permanently. I say this with a bit of sarcasm because most of the companies that sell diet stuff, don't want you to get thin permanently because then their money-pit dries up.

Walking down the aisle of any grocery store you'll stare dozens of "low fat" and "fat free" items in the face. Low fat has made the world crazy and people now think they just have to eat low fat and their bodies will have less fat too.

Here is the reasons why low fat and fat free diets don't work

    1. There is no direct relationship between fat calories eaten and fat on a person's body. Your body is very able to convert any type of calorie to fat and not just fat calories.
    2. You can eat 3 pounds of sugar every day and I guarantee you will get fat although sugar has zero fat calories.
    3. White rice is fat free too, but eat a lot everyday and you can bet on it that you will get fat.

So what does that tell you about eating fat free foods?

Forget about buzz words like "non fat" and "low fat" because they were invented to make you think you're eating healthy.

What you need to worry about is the exact types of foods that you combine together at each meal, so that you get the proper portion of fat calories and carbs at each meal - which will maximize weight loss.

The Proper Purposes of Weight Loss

Why question anyone's "reason" or "purpose" for losing weight?

Well, I am not trying to "question" anyone's goals and dreams. However, I have had opportunities to observe the setting of these goals and the motivations behind them in many people, including myself, over the last half century, and I do have a few thoughts on the subject of the proper purposes, or reasons, for weight loss. Partly, these conclusions are based on the many failures and few successes I have seen.

While I am happy to learn of anyone who is concerned about their health and happiness and is willing to do something about it, I am concerned that many people fail to achieve their health, fitness, or weight loss goals because of a lack of knowledge or because of an undefined sense of purpose.

Obviously, the numbers (statistics) bear out the definite relation of weight loss to health in a general way. However, what exactly does losing weight do for an individual? What CAN happen to people with a body mass index of 25 or above, those categorized as overweight and obese, when they DO lose weight?

It has been shown statistically that those in the categories of "overweight" or "obese" are facing increased risks of cardiovascular disease and insulin resistance syndrome, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, liver disease, gallstones, and sleep apnea. All of these conditions, many of which are fatal in a worst-case scenario, also have their own complications. It is also not uncommon to find combinations of these conditions in overweight and obese individuals, thus increasing the overall dangers to health and happiness exponentially.

Looking at these simple facts, it is easy, and very natural, to come to the conclusion that, in the obese and overweight, weight loss at any price is worth the potential gains in health, quality of life, and longevity. Faced with this general sense of information, many people will assume that any weight loss program that "works" will deliver these gains and improvements.

    However, I see two questions.

Are some weight loss programs, systems, or methods more likely to deliver all three?

Is it possible that some methods of losing weight may create new problems of their own?

The answer to both questions is, "Yes."

Due to a lack of knowledge of the problem or the solution, many people, quite naturally, focus on their immediate perceived problem (I can't get into my old clothes. It's getting harder to do things. I need to lose weight for my health - whatever that is.) rather than viewing weight loss as a long-term, life-altering solution to an entire panoply of current and potential ills as outlined above. Often, this single focused goal is not strong enough to help maintain motivation.

However, understanding ALL the many benefits of a healthy weight loss program, including delay of death and easing of the negative aspects of aging, could conceivably provide a stronger degree of motivation than simply depriving oneself of favorite foods over a long term in order to drop a dress size.

In hopes of "losing a few pounds" or a lot of pounds, many people resort to the use of all kinds of fad diets, diet pills, weight loss supplements, and chase the elusive promises of every new idea that pops up on TV or in the supermarket tabloids. However, most of these have more basis in economic health of the company selling them than the physical health of the user. The claims seem good, and sadly the claims, though based in fact, are inflated to make an item or method that COULD help someone who is in a healthy weight loss program seem as if it SHOULD BE the weight loss program.

Sadly also, in addition to diverting the public's attention away from real solutions which could actually help bring about better overall health and reductions in future health risks, these get-thin-quick programs may actually either promote dangerous attitudes and practices and, in extreme cases, may have their own health risks or simply add their own risks to the list. Many seek to accomplish the goal of "weight loss" through manipulating the normal functions of the body in extreme ways or by curtailing necessary nutrition so that other problems may be encountered. Even worse, many touted weight loss solutions, in addition to being ineffective, can actually lead to weight gain.

Just for an example, many diets demand severe restrictions in the quantity and types of food eaten. The fact is that dropping calories below a certain point can cause the body to lower its basic metabolic rate, thus learning to survive on even fewer calories than before. Since the basic metabolic rate can be key to healthy weight loss, this does not seem like a good thing!

To make things worse, when the dieter gets fed up with eating the labels on the cans instead of the contents of the cans and goes back to old eating habits, it will take fewer calories to pack on fat than before. This often leads the dieter to gain weight, then to try another diet, usually with the same results. The term for this is yo-yo dieting and it usually results in weight gain rather than weight loss. Additionally, restricting the types of foods allowed also restricts the access to needed nutrients, creating additional potential health problems.

    Ready for some good news?

It has long been known that increasing physical activity, either through lifestyle changes or through planned exercise programs, together with a few alterations to the daily diet, i.e. healthy eating habits, can result in a healthy weight loss experience. Additionally, exercise and healthy eating habits bring with them their own benefits to health and fitness levels.

Through regular, moderate exercise and healthy eating, rather than through fad diets and diet pills, anyone can improve their chances for a longer, healthier, happier, and more rewarding life. It's cheaper too.
